Guilty as charged, my beliefs sometimes keep me stuck..

So here’s what I practice:

We hold ourselves back from doing a lot of things. We like to blame our circumstances and other people, but we hold ourselves back more than we might like to admit or even realise.

If you have this amazing goal or plan for your future, it can be hard to follow through if your mind isn’t in the right place. This could be related to finding a partner, asking for a promotion, finding a new job, or even moving to another country.

When you’re mindset around these things is skeptical, critical, or untrusting, it’s going to be that much harder to make your plans happen.

To make the changes you’ve been wanting to make for years, it’s time to take a look at your current mindset and see where you might be holding yourself back.

In this blog, I’m sharing some tips to help you identify and reconstruct your current mindset around the struggles you’re dealing with right now. With these tips, you’ll be able to move past any mindset blocks you have and create a plan of action so you can reach your goals.

How Your Mindset Holds You Back

If your thoughts around your goals are negative, you’re going to breed more negativity. For example, saying to yourself, “I don’t know if I can do this” or “Everyone else is doing this better than me” or “I’ll never have the money to do this” can start to hold you back from taking further action.

The things you repeatedly tell yourself often come true because you start to decrease your own self-confidence. You have to take ownership for your thoughts and emotions, and you have to believe that you’re capable of reaching your goals.

You have to have the unwavering desire to try no matter what.

You have to take ownership for your thoughts and emotions, and you have to believe that you’re capable of reaching your goals.

How To Identify Your Current Mindset

The mind is a complex place and often we don’t even realise the thoughts we’re thinking. You have already learnt that we have thousands of thoughts every day and we can’t possibly be conscious of all of them, especially when they last for a split second.

In order to identify your current mindset, you have to become aware of the repeating thoughts that pop into your head on a daily basis.

For example, you probably have a lot of subconscious thoughts around yourself. Every time you look in the mirror and scrutinise something about your appearance, you’re sending the message to yourself that you’re not good enough.

If you have a particular goal for the future or a change you want to make, you have to pay close attention to the way you think about it.

To bring awareness to your thoughts, try journaling or talking to a therapist, coach, or close friend. These are effective ways to get thoughts out of your head so you have a better idea of what’s going on in your mind – I actively do all those!

How To Overcome Your Mindset Blocks

The first step is to identify your recurring thoughts as previously mentioned. The second step is to actively find ways to keep going, despite any negative self-talk or outside noise from other people.

Read motivational books, listen to podcasts, read blogs, learn new things, and find ways to challenge yourself. There are so many inspirational people out there who have overcome what you’re going through, so follow their journeys to keep you motivated.

On that note, it’s important not to overwhelm yourself with what other people have to say.

Meditation and journaling are great ways to connect with your inner self and to clear your head from overthinking.

Make taking care of yourself a priority so you can protect your headspace.

If negative situations like a draining job or toxic family member are on your mind a lot, it’s more difficult to think positively about anything in your life. That’s why it’s so important to constantly find time for yourself to avoid letting the energy of others creep into your mind.

Meditate, practice yoga, go for walks, and wake up earlier so you have more time to work on your goals without distractions. Find what works for you.
